Lowell Libson & Jonny Yarker Ltd

We are currently travelling in the US and enjoyed an entertaining and highly instructive day at the Cleveland Museum of Art. It was extremely stimulating to spend several hours looking at drawings with Heather Lemonedes, the curator of drawings, and Cory Korkow, curator of European Art, including several the museum has acquired from Lowell Libson Ltd over the years. A particular highlight was seeing again the magical Samuel Palmer 1865 watercolour 'The Golden Hour', which has all the intensity of Palmer's early Shoreham landscapes and technical virtuosity associated with his Miltonic watercolours. Cleveland's British drawings collection is the subject of an outstanding in-depth publication by Heather: 'British drawings from the Cleveland Museum of Art' (2013).
